Tasks

  • research PCM, sample rates, bit rate, etc.

Notes

  • all text is simple and in paragraph form

Introduction

  • can be used in auto, semi auto or fully manual.
  • use those prests in any way that you want
  • digital slate creates a unique file structure with internal gallery makes it easy, and prioritzation, designed to optimize workflow during recording and editing
  • side note: all of this functionality is designed to make things easier
  • optimized for DOF Adapter Anamorphic and combining both for using real cinmea with DOF Adapter

Media content:

  • delete screenshots

Getting started

This is a quick overview of the home screen withhotspots to demonstrate functionality

Delete media content text (action)

Recording videos

Auto mode

  • (Paragraph) Launches in video mode, all settings in auto and with default presets (default preset link to "last settings")
  • delete second bullet point (action)
  • (Paragraph) basic workflow, click start/stop, timer, will be saved to gallery in videos folder

Lock focus/exposure

  • delete round for focus and square for exposure line
  • (Paragraph) summarize all bullet points

View recorded video

  • to access recorded video

Display settings

Top information bar

Audio and histogram

  • change swipe to touch to switch between them

Focus peaking

  • word more simply

Level

  • clearly explain that it's just to help compose your shot and will nopt affect exported aspect ratio as a blockquote

Screen brightness

Video settings

Camera selection

  • will have 28mm, 56mm, front facing and dual camera(do not add text)
  • you can select between front and back camera, and on dual camera devices like iPhone 7+/8+ and X you can select between 28mm, 56mm and dual
  • block quote for limitations of front facing and dual

Format

  • quick description
  • table with specs and which model, y axis model, x axis resolution, bit rate and frame rate
  • (blockquote) higher bit rate, resolution and fps will take up more space for it's higher quality
  • another table for front facing camera
  • TODO ask developers what specs are available

Image stabilization

  • helps to reduce handheld camera shake
  • there are two types of stabilization available, standard and cinematic (explain each)
  • TODO: ask developers what the difference between standard and cinematic are
  • create table for x axis models and resolution and y axis standard and cinematic

Manual camera controls

White balance

  • has auto by default, and offers presets for several popular scenarios
  • allows you to change color in Kelvin and in tint
  • (List) you can manually set your values too, when clicking manual it'll lock
  • list each preset just like in the notes
  • explain how they made gray card to work and why it's useful in general

  • (1 of 3) (Block quote) for each of the following, white balance focus and zoom: you can create local presets for these

  • camera adjusts itself right away and changes the settings to the best white balance so whoite balance and editing is easier

Focus

  • fresh camera start focus is in auto
  • change it by moving recticle on the screen and you can lock it by tapping on the square recticle (show screenshot of recticle locked on focus point)
  • you can manually chnage your focus with the icon and slider
  • (Blockquote) you can precisely control your focus point by tapping on the arrows on the slider by 0.1. This is great for something like the DOF Adapter.
  • screenshot with slider
  • (2 of 3) (Block quote) for each of the following, white balance focus and zoom: you can create local presets for these

Zoom

  • allows you to do digital zoom
  • control by 0.1 fun fact, great for precisionand great for external optics to reduce vignetting
  • (3 of 3) (Block quote) for each of the following, white balance focus and zoom: you can create local presets for these

Exposure

  • exposure control on iPhones is done with ISO and shutter speed
  • by default is in auto
  • you can move recticle to adjust it automatically based on the location
  • to lock it simply tap the recticle
  • you can can lock it to control it individually
  • (Blockquote) shutter speed is predermined based on the frame rate for the video, for example at 24FPS your steps will be 24, 48, 126, ... and at 60FPS it will be 1/60, 120, 240, ...
  • smart exposure paragraph combining two key points
  • you can still fine tune it with manual settings as well, it's a great tool to get it very good or close to the best

Audio

  • you can select between built-in microphones, external microphones or mute all together without sound for complete control over your sound

Built-in mic

  • quick paragraph that you can switch between mics, formats and sample rate
  • screenshot with menu open
  • then quick explanation for each topic, (headings for formats, sample rate and microphones and List of each option)
  • (Blockquote) explain default settigns of PCM 48khz it's very helpful if you use external optics and without an external microphone)
  • (Blockquote) gain control is not available when not using an external mic

External mic

  • you can use external microphones to improve sound quality
  • TODO: ask develoeprs if we can auto switch with both analog and digital
  • can control gain now
  • screenshot with microphone and gain being adjusted
  • if using digital mic with stereo, it will show stereo and show the stereo channels

Hardware

  • quick intro, designed to optimize improve workflow for external hardware like DOF Adapter and Anamorphic lenses are used
  • screenshot showing them beign used

DOF Adapter

  • to learn about DOF, click here
  • allows you to do prop orientation of the image
  • to use, simply tap on DOF icon
  • (new heading h3) Quick tip: when you use DOF Adapter option, you can also use the quick zoom option to simplify workflow to set quick zoom zooms in 4X to allow you to focus easier

Anamorphic

  • to learn about anamorphic, click here
  • adjusts aspect ratio

After both headings

  • you can combine both DOF and Anamorphic if you have real cinema lenses with the DOF Adapter * add asterisk
  • presets can help these dramatically by optimizing your workflow and save these settings for quick access when using this hardware

Presets

  • super unique functionality to optimize workflow (check notes and make tone very LOUD)
  • two types of presets, local and global

Local

  • internally saved, for white balance focus and zoom
  • you can store three presets for each function
  • will save long-term, and in any event of your phone dying, closing the app or crashing, etc. it will still be accessible when you reopen the app

Create local preset

  • to save, set value and tap on number

Load

  • to load, tap it again

Delete

  • to delete local preset - tap and hold

Examples

  • focus and zoom can optimize DOF Adapter workflow
  • add gif showing this

Global presets

  • can save every single function and setting and load it again at any time
  • don't have to set up everything just what you need -stored on device and in cloud, and can easily be shared with other devices
  • (Blockquote) to use global presets (link) you'll need to create a BeastCam account

Create

  • set up your settings
  • tap P
  • tap save preset and set a name

Quick example

  • you want to shoot 4K 24FPS with DOF
  • set it up and save it as a preset, just load it and it's good to go
  • gif animation

Load

  • you can load presets that you saved before
  • tap P
  • TODO: ask developers to open screen right awayaand remove Current settings and Presets buttons
  • select presets that you want to apply
  • tap apply
  • gif animation showing this

Share

  • another great thing about these is that you can share presets with any device, great for multiple cameras on the same set
  • tap P
  • swipe preset that you want to share
  • tap share
  • enter recipient email address
  • tap share
  • show gif animation

Archiving

  • you can delete from your device and access menu, but they will be archived in the cloud by default
  • if you want to permanently delete, you can tap the archive button and restore it later if needed or delete it permanently
  • TODO: find out how presets are stored without an internet connection

Last settings/Default preset

  • automatically saves current settings and if battery dies, app crashes, etc.
  • default preset is what we load by default standard (List: 1080p, 30FPS, 16:9, normal bit rate, bottom microphone, PCM, 48kHz, standard image stabilization, exposure, white balance, and focus all in auto,
