BeastCam provides complete freedom and control over all audio settings when recording your video for the best possible sound quality.
Microphone
BeastCam allows you to use both built-in and external microphones.
Built-in microphone
The iPhone has three built-in microphones, located in different areas: bottom (where you talk into while on speaker), front (where you talk into while on the phone normally), and back (located near the camera(s)).
By default, BeastCam uses the bottom microphone to ensure that you'll have great sound when using external lenses or a rig that covers the back microphone like the Beastgrip Pro.
If you'd like to record with another microphone, tap the microphone icon, and then either the front or back microphone icons.
External microphone
Although the iPhone microphones are great, we strongly recommend recording with an external microphone for the best possible quality. When an external microphone is connected properly, BeastCam automatically changes from the default built-in bottom microphone to your external microphone and enables the gain control.
Gain helps to determine how loud your sound will be recorded at. To increase/decrease the gain levels, adjust the gain slider as needed.

Digital microphones
Digital microphones are input with the Lightning port instead of the 3.5mm headphone jack, and will display the microphone model in BeastCam when connected. Digital microphones will also record in stereo and will display both the left and right channel levels in the audio menu.

Format
BeastCam supports PCM, ACC and AIFF audio formats, and 44.1kHz and 48kHz sample rates. By default, the format is set to PCM and the sample rate is set to 44.1 kHZ.

Mute
At any time, tap the mute icon to record your video without any sound.
