File management
The digital slate, prioritization and overall file management workflow is one of the most powerful features on BeastCam. Using these tools together keeps your files organized and ready for editing better than any other filmmaking app in the world.
Digital slate
BeastCam's digital slate is an indispensible tool for organizing your files and simplifying your workflow during editing. With digital slate enabled, you can easily create new projects and scenes, and any new videos recorded will be sent automatically to a separate folder in your BeastCam gallery and each of your files will be named based on the project, scene and take number, i.e. "project_scene_take" or "vacation_intro_1".
Creating new projects and scenes
Tap the main menu and then the digital slate switch to enable it, then tap "Create project," enter your project and scene names and tap "Create" to start your first project. You can now see your project and scene name in the top information bar and you're ready to start recording. Tap the record button to start/stop recording and then navigate to your BeastCam gallery to see a new folder created with your project name. Tap your project folder to see your recorded video with the formatted file name, duration, resolution, frame rate, sample rate, audio format, file size and date.
Displaying your projects
Tap the main menu, and then tap your project name to display a list of all your projects and the most recent scene for each project. Tap the project name to see a list of all the project's scenes and the last take number for that scene.
Adding scenes to an existing project
Tap the project that you'd like to add a new scene to, then tap "Add scene," enter your scene name and then tap "Create."
Deleting a project
Tap the menu icon on the right side of the project name and then the trash icon to delete a project.
IMPORTANT: Your files from this project will remain in the BeastCam gallery and will need to be deleted. This is helpful so you can clear your projects as needed and still have access to your video files.
Restoring a project
Open the BeastCam gallery and tap on the menu icon on the right side of your project folder that you would like to restore, then tap the restore icon. Now your project will be available again in the digital slate.
Prioritization
Prioritization is a massive time-saving tool that allows you to quickly flag or delete your videos via a pop up menu as soon as you finish recording. Flagged videos will be saved with a * at the end of the file name and a star in the beastCam gallery for quick retrieval during editing and viewing.
Combined with the digital slate, prioritization allows you to keep all of your files organized by project, scene and your best takes for an incredible editing workflow that you have to try to believe.
Enabling/disabling prioritization
Tap the account menu icon, and then tap the Prioritization switch to turn this feature on/off.
Gallery
BeastCam has a built-in gallery for viewing, flagging, renaming, deleting and exporting your files.
Folders
BeastCam's gallery contains two folders: one for videos and one for photos. By default, video files will be saved in the Videos folder, and when digital slate is enabled, they will be saved in the project and scene folder for the project that you're working on.
