Display settings

BeastCam provides several built-in display features to enhance your workflow.

Top Information Bar

The top information bar is visible at all times and displays your phone's battery level, available storage, current image stabilization setting, recording timer, resolution and frame rate (FPS).

It'll also show your current project, scene and take name when you have digital slate enabled.

Audio levels and histogram

BeastCam includes a powerful visualization tool for your audio and blacks/shadows, mid tones and highlights/whites. Tap on the audio level/histogram section on the lower left area of the screen to toggle between these two displays at any time.

Audio levels

By default, the audio level/gain, microphone, audio format and sample rate are displayed for an in-depth preview of your audio at a glance.

Histogram

The histogram displays the amount of blacks/shadows, mid tones and highlights/white areas that your image has.

Focus Peaking

Focus peaking is a powerful feature that highlights the edges of any object that's in focus with a bright green color. This is especially powerful when manually focusing with the DOF Adapter or DOF Adapter MK2. Tap on the "FP" icon to toggle focus peaking on/off.

Level, Grids, and Guides

BeastCam has several helpful tools to help you compose your shot better. Tap on the main menu icon and select your preferred option(s) to enable any of them (shown below).

Level

Displays your phone's level (horizontal alignment) and tilt (vertical alignment).

Grid

Displays a light grid of lines for composing your shot using the rule of thirds.

Guide

Displays an overlay to help visualize a particular aspect ratio of your choosing without actually changing your recording. Includes options for 1:1 (square), 2.39:1 (anamorphic/widescreen), 2.76:1 (super widescreen) aspect ratios.

Note: the level, grids and guides are even more powerful when used together.

Screen brightness

For convenience, you can adjust the screen brightness without leaving BeastCam. Tap on the main menu icon and adjust the "Screen brightness" slider at the bottom of the menu as needed.
