Presets

Presets are one of the most powerful features BeastCam offers. They're designed to heavily optimize your entire workflow by automatically adding as many settings as you want all at once at the tap of a single icon. BeastCam provides options for both local and global presets, and allows both types to be used simultaneously for even more powerful customization.

Local presets

Local presets allow you to store up to three settings on your iPhone for each of the white balance, focus, and zoom settings. They will be saved permanently, even if your phone dies, the app is closed, etc. and can be changed at any time.

Examples

Local presets can be used for an unlimited amount of different scenarios, but here's a list of some of the most popular use cases:

  • Save your zoom and focus settings for the DOF Adapter
  • Save your zoom settings for lenses that have vignetting
  • Save your white balance settings for a room that you record videos in often

Global Presets

Global presets are an even more powerful optimization to your workflow. They allow you to store as many settings as you want on your iPhone and in the cloud to access them at any time and on any device. They can be shared for consistency with multi-phone setups and allow you to save any settings that are available in BeastCam.

Global presets require you to be signed in to a free BeastCam account.

Examples

Global presets are incredibly useful for things like default settings, frame rate, shutter speed, etc., but they're even more robust when combined together with other settings for hardware, and multi-phone setups. Here are a few popular use cases:

  • Save different frame rate and shutter speed combinations, i.e. "Slo-mo 120FPS 1/240," "Cinematic 24FPS 1/48," etc.
  • Save different video quality combinations, i.e. "4K with Beast quality"
  • Save your zoom and focus settings for the DOF Adapter
  • Save your current settings for the location you're in and share them with another phone for multi-phone setups
  • Save different zoom settings for your lenses
  • Save different audio format combinations, i.e. "PCM 48kHz," etc.

Global presets are even stronger when used together with local presets. For example, you can set a global preset for everything and then override something quickly with a local preset as needed.

Creating global presets

Tap on the "P" icon on the right side of the screen to access the global presets menu. You'll see all of your current settings displayed and can save them by tapping "Save preset" and entering a name in the pop up menu.
